About "Allergy Sensitivity Test"
An allergy sensitivity test is used to diagnose allergic conditions like hay fever, allergic asthma, dermatitis, food allergies, Penicillin allergy, and latex allergy. It is done by conducting the following skin tests.
- Skin prick test – Otherwise called puncture or scratch test This test looks for allergy to 40 substances at once. Here, allergen extracts are put into the skin surface by pricking them with small needles (lancets). And after 15 minutes, the skin is checked for allergic reaction.
- Skin injection test – Here, the allergen is directly injected into the skin, and signs of allergic reactions are checked after 15 minutes.
- Patch test – This test requires you to wear patches made out of allergens on your skin for 48 hours. Any redness or itching on these sites indicated an allergy.
