Glaucoma is an eye condition that results in optic nerve damage due to the buildup of pressure in the eye. The increased intraocular pressure damages the optic nerve that carries images to the brain causing blindness. The types of glaucoma are chronic glaucoma, acute glaucoma, congenital glaucoma, secondary glaucoma, and normal tension glaucoma. Severe eye pain, nausea, vomiting, eye redness, vision disturbances, blurred vision, and seeing colored rings are the symptoms that a person with glaucoma has. Glaucoma is caused when clear fluid (aqueous humor) in the front part of the eye gets accumulated as the channels through which they drain out get blocked. The other causes are the use of dilating eye drops, corticosteroids, poor blood flow, and high blood pressure.
