This doctor is not available for online consultations on the platform anymore.Hello doctor,
Whenever I get pimples, I tend to pop them, and sometimes I leave them as they are. However, they become irritated and red, and I pick at them, causing a large red circle around the pimple that feels rough and exfoliated. I am unsure about what products to use to help it heal, and I do not understand how to prevent this from happening again on my face. Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Your first query consult is on us!
It is essential to consult a dermatologist to assess the grade and severity of your acne. If possible, provide pictures for a remote review. If your acne is mild, topical anti-acne creams like Clindamycin, Adapalene, etc., can be helpful. For severe acne, oral medications such as Azithromycin or Doxycycline, with or without Isotretinoin, may be prescribed along with anti-acne creams.
As a general treatment measure, I suggest you follow these steps:
Use a face wash suitable for oily skin, such as Ahaglow (Glycolic acid, vitamin E, and aloe vera as active ingredients) or Cetaphil (Niacinamide, Ceramides, and hyaluronic acid as active ingredients), to cleanse your face.
Apply Clindamycin gel in the morning and Adapalene gel (tropical retinoid) at night on the acne lesions.
If you have blackheads or whiteheads, consider getting them removed professionally.
Avoid squeezing pimples, as it may lead to scarring.
Please follow these measures for two weeks to observe the response. If your acne is of mild grade, you should see improvement. However, if it is severe, oral medication might be necessary. For better evaluation and the best possible treatment, please provide a review with pictures.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
