This doctor is not available for online consultations on the platform anymore.Hi doctor,
I have ringing in my left ear. It is louder when I move my jaw in the opposite direction to the ear or open it wide, like yawning. It also gets louder when I tilt my head opposite to the ear. Massaging the muscle on my left neck makes it ring louder. It is also harder to pop that ear. It clicks more rather than pops satisfyingly. This has been going on for about half a year now, I have tried nasal sprays to help clear it and the Valsalva maneuver, but they have not worked. I have bought a camera tool to look inside my ear, too. The pars flaccida is red with veins going from it to the malleus. Please help. Thanks.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern, Ringing sound in the ear can be due to multiple causes. First, we need to test the functioning of the auditory nerve. I have reviewed your attached images (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), tympanic membrane looks alright on both sides. The reddish hue is no sign of any abnormality. I suggest you get a pure tone audiometry (PTA) and impedance audiometry done, and based on those reports, we can decide a further course of action. I hope this information will work. Thanks.
